Impacting 96,000 Students in the Setúbal Peninsula

The 7th edition of the Ecovalor Program, promoted by Amarsul, marks a significant milestone in terms of participation, with the adhesion of 182 educational establishments, directly impacting more than 96,000 students in the Setúbal Peninsula.

In the 2023/24 school year, the Program collected 490 tons of recyclable waste, including 141 tons of plastic and metal packaging, 254 tons of paper/cardboard, and 13 tons of glass, representing an increase of 194 tons compared to the previous year.

The Ecovalor Program's main objective is to promote good environmental practices, distinguishing the schools that excel in separating recyclable waste through the Recycle and Win competition in the categories: Yellow (plastics and metals), Blue (paper/cardboard), and Green (glass). In the most recent edition, the Top 3 schools were Egas Moniz - Cooperativa de Ensino, CRL (Almada), EB 2,3 Qta. Nova da Telha (Barreiro), and EB Santa Marta do Pinhal (Seixal).

The effort and commitment of students, teachers, support staff, and families resulted in over R$ 11,000 in prizes for the participating schools, recognizing their commitment to a more sustainable environment.

By joining the Ecovalor Program, participating schools receive selective waste collection equipment, such as reusable shopping bags for indoor use, 120-liter containers, and bags for outdoor areas. In addition, the program includes free environmental training sessions covering topics such as recycling, waste management, and the processes of treating and reusing recyclable materials.

Through the Ecovalor Program, Amarsul ensures that all collected waste is reintegrated into the production cycle as raw material, while also recognizing and rewarding the environmental performance of schools, encouraging a more sustainable future for the entire educational community.
