An Ecoevent is a one-off initiative, certified by the company responsible for the area where the event takes place, that promotes good environmental practices and sustainability concepts. It is held in a pre-defined space, has a limited duration, and stands out as an example of adopting appropriate environmental measures.
How an EcoEvent Works
Eco-events receive support for selective waste collection, adapted to the size of the event. Support includes on-site awareness campaigns and may also involve economic benefits associated with the quantities of packaging correctly separated.
All event organizers, including municipalities, parish councils, and promoters, are eligible to participate in this initiative.
Requirements to be an ECOEVENT:
- Implementation of selective packaging collection at the event location;
- Conducting training and awareness-raising activities for waste producers and event participants;
- Collaboration in monitoring and evaluating results regarding waste produced and/or avoided;
- Implementation of good environmental practices at the event location;
- Promotion and dissemination of environmental initiatives carried out among the event's audiences.
The proposing/promoting entity of the event interested in joining the ECOEVENT program should fill out the form at the end of the page.
Registration for the Ecoevent can be done at any time of year; it is only necessary to register well in advance of the event so that the necessary logistics can be organized.
No, to be considered an Eco-event, the organization receives support from the company at no cost.
Awareness is raised among the organizers and, if applicable, vendors, with practical information on the correct separation of waste.
There is also the possibility of having monitors on-site during the event. This is a way to engage participants and promote the event's sustainability.
The campaign covers events of various sizes and types, such as festivals, fairs, sporting events, popular celebrations, or other public gatherings.
